Elections have consequences! Citizenship comes with the right to vote elected representatives into respective offices. That right comes with each voter’s constitutional responsibility to educate themselves before going to the polls, and after the election to communicate with the elected officials adding accountability ensuring the elected officials act in the best interest of the people.

NEXT ELECTION
Virginia is holding a Gubernatorial Election November 4, 2025.
We will be electing a new Governor (replacing Glenn Youngkin with Winsome-Earl-Sears, R,) and selecting the holders of Virginia Attorney General (Jason Miyares, incumbent) and a new Lt. Governor (State Senator John Reid, R).
In addition to these 3 state wide offices, Northumberland voters will have some local, County and/or Voting District (1,2,3,4,or 5) elections as well as a County Wide vote on a Referendum Question to change the means of becoming a representative on the Northumberland School Board.
See the information below for details on these races.
District 2 Supervisor : Currently sitting BoS Chair, Richard Haynie, in this race for District 2 Supervisor, is fully supported by the Republican Party of Northumberland County (NCRC). In other spaces on this webpage, one can find our rational for our support. Please see these important key points favoring Chair Haynie. His opponent IS NOT affiliated or associated in any way with NCRC. For this reason, we take no stand on his candidacy, other than to heavily favor Mr. Haynie for which we have created a “BACKGROUNDER” on our Republican candidate.
Read our biography and experience review of Mr. Haynie’s contributions to this county. The following .pdf document can be read online, downloaded and printed at home, and then distributed to friends and voters not reviewing these pages. these Read the
Referendum: The question before the voters on Nov 4 is ”Shall the method of selecting the school board be changed from direct election by the voters to appointment by the governing body?” The effort to extend this initiative is citizen led and not specifically supported by either local or State political party. The comparison shown via the web link provided, goes directly to the Northumberland County BoS web pages which further states this position.

The Virginia Mercury (By: Nathaniel Cline – October 2, 2025)
You will note when reading the Supervisor comments, our currently elected School Board is made up of a vast array of Individuals, many without any school management experience. Only recently (2024 & 2022) have citizens of Northumberland been able to elect individuals with qualified individuals with school management experience. It is the position of this Republican Committee that this is a completely non-partisan issue which all citizens of this county should be interested in. They are the property tax payers which have charge in selecting School Board representation.
As such, the Rappahannock Record (October 16th edition), ran an article titled “Election 2025: Harris Challenges Haynie for Supervisor In Northumberland”. Each candidate was asked to provide answers to five key questions regarding their ideas for our county. This is being provided by NCRC ONLY as a public service to our residents.
